Information exchange with BCMX

Information exchange with BCMX

BCMX offers two ways of securely exchanging information. Be that internally or with your partner organisations. 1. Direct machine to machine using a single API to connect directly to single or multiple software applications 2. Human interface applications where you have individual requesters and single or multiple responders Any combination of human and system interfaces can be used for information exchanges. BCMX uses defined industry and sector specific vocabularies (data dictionaries) these are key within all uses of BCMX. The use of vocabularies eliminates ambiguity and enables direct comparison of data. Because all vocabularies within BCMX are defined the responses can be analysed. This is a huge benefit when trying to compare; say compliance within a supply chain or managing an ever-changing workforce. Indeed any environment where data is gathered and shared.

Highlights – Human Interface

  • Standardised vocabularies for clearer communication
  • Simple, unambiguous questionnaires for easy responses
  • Re-use of previously answered questions
  • Can be used with PC, Tablet and Smart phone
  • Clear Reporting of information gathered

Highlights – Machine to Machine

  • Standardised vocabularies for clearer communication
  • Integrates with your existing systems to reduce admin & costs
  • Single API connection reduces cost and time to implement

Information ownership

Information ownership

One of the keys to BCMX information Exchange is Information Ownership.

When we understand who owns each piece of information it becomes possible to share that data with confidence.

Within BCMX each piece of information is linked with a simple contract (user agreement) this enables you to share the information within agreed limits – you are always in control. By doing this you licence the sharing of each piece of information and BCMX will only release the data within the terms of your licence.

This simple to use facility enables you to manage the information lifecycle including the safe creation and disposal of data. For example: people move within an organisation, BCMX manages these changes and information can remain with them or stay with their previous role.

These controls will help your organisation remain compliant with current data-protection legislation. It also handles version control and can retain historic data for the future analysis of trends.

Highlights

  • Each piece of information is protected by a contract and has an access control list.
  • Personal data moves with the individual ensuring data-protection compliance
  • Contracts can be linked to an individual or job title / roll ensuring continuity of information flow.

BCMX Workflow

BCMX Workflow

1. Agree: This is the initial stage where two or more parties agree to share specific information. It will always include a contract so each of the parties involved understands what is to be shared for how long etc.

2. Collect: This process can be either by a personal interface application or machine to machine.

3. Store: The collected data is now stored and ready for sharing. This store can be either in the cloud or on your in-house system with a BCMX node.

4. Deliver: The stored data can now be delivered either to another server (machine to machine) or to an individual via a BCMX human interface application.

Built on the NIEM architecture

Built on the NIEM architecture

The BCMX system is based on the comprehensive NIEM (National Information Exchange Model) architecture. NIEM was developed in the USA to enable the easy cross-state exchange of information. It is now used in many diverse areas including – emergency response, criminal justice system, maritime, health & human services, transport systems, Immigration services etc. the list goes on and on.

Since BCMX is based on this tried and trusted vocabulary architecture, you can be confident that whatever your information sharing needs, the foundations are secure. NIEM is the information exchange model used across many US government departments and organisations. For more information about NIEM go to http://niem.gov

Highlights

  • Proven and trusted Information Exchange model
  • Expert vocabularies covering many fields
  • NIEM used international by governments and industry
  • Comprehensive pre-existing vocabularies eliminating ambiguity
